Family Friendly Bonfire Sprinkle

Bonfire and Sprinkle are two things you don’t expect to go together normally but this isn’t your normal Sprinkle.  This Sprinkle is for mamas who already have one or more children and are expecting again.  When I first heard of this term I couldn’t figure out where it came from but my husband being the know it all he is quickly spoke up and said you know it’s not a shower but a sprinkle.  It really makes perfect sense because a Sprinkle is a scaled down version of a shower.  Okay, so maybe he’s brilliant but don’t tell him I said that!

We just so happen to have two new Grandbabies who are due in early December.  We recently had a baby shower for one of the moms who this will be a first child for and were excited to plan a Sprinkle for the other mom to be as this is her second child.  Talking with her we decided that a fun family friendly bonfire sprinkle would be perfect for her.  Scroll down through our photos to see how we setup our party and what fun ideas we came up with.

One table would be plenty of space for the food since it would be a simple and laid back gathering.

The bonfire gave our son a chance to practice his fire building skills.  He did a great job and had a lot of fun pitching in!

These chocolate sprinkled marshmallows are super simple to make but were a big hit!  Take a bag of semi sweet chocolate chips and put in a microwave safe bowl.  Melt the chocolate in 45 second intervals, stirring between each heat to ensure that they melt evenly and do not burn.  Once melted completely dip half of the marshmallows in the chocolate and then dip them into sprinkles.  They look so pretty and take maybe 5 minutes to put together.  We used jumbo marshmallows but you could use whatever size you prefer.

These cute little buckets cost only a buck at a local dollar store.  They worked perfectly to hold the pop and chips.  You could also write on them or glue pictures to them.

Another simple project!  We took graham crackers and iced half of the cracker with vanilla cake icing and then sprinkled them with sprinkles.  Super easy and they look great.

Decorations do not have to be a huge chore!  We took balloons, tied them to twine and hung them from the trees around the table.  When finished it looked really cute without taking a lot of time.

We also put together a s’mores section on the table since we were having  a bonfire.  You can’t have a bonfire with s’mores!

In lieu of presents we decided to go with a diaper raffle.  Have your guests bring a package of diapers, any size and when they arrive give them a slip of paper with a number on it.  Once everyone arrives draw a number and the person whose number is drawn wins a prize.  You could get really fancy with this and send out raffle tickets or provide a cute raffle ticket when they arrive but it’s really not necessary.  The slip of paper worked great and it was super easy!
