Heroes come in all shapes, sizes and ages. I have many that are in my life that I feel are heroes to me in one way or another. When I was approached to work with La Brea Bakery on their Thanksgiving Heroes campaign I was really excited and I knew immediately who I wanted to nominate.

My hero is a single mom.. my mom. She gave up many holidays, Thanksgiving included, in order to serve others and ultimately to provide for me. For most of the years that I was growing up my mom worked in service positions that typically paid minimum wage or little above it. Waitressing, bartending, retail are a few of the jobs that she worked. She was always well loved by her employers and customers. I don’t remember ever feeling short changed because of not spending the holidays partaking in the traditional celebration. I also don’t ever remember my mom complaining. We were thankful for each other and thankful for what we did have.
